Question

Can you build a profitable affiliate business without building your own website or blog?

 

Answer

YES. You can, but you’ll make fewer sales while spending more money chasing prospects. You will most likely not be able to create anything sustainable. Thing is, though, you don’t really need a website, but you need something called a “Landing Page.”

 

Landing pages aren’t websites.

 

They’re much easier to build, they often come with templates and they convert better than websites.

 

The difference between landing page and a website is the difference between Ford Model T (super simple, cheap, affordable for the every day person) and a Porsche GTRS 3 (hyper car, complicated, expensive pain in the ass to maintain, can only be driven on a track, not recommended for beginner drivers).

 

Websites are used primarily to create a sense of a “shop” and maybe give an ego-boost to their owner.

 

Landing pages are created to get more sales, because they guide the web visitor to a purchase.

 

If you master landing pages – you can make sales with almost any traffic source.

“Whitelist? What in the name of Odin is a “whitelist?”

 

I was browsing Clickbank marketplace looking for the next affiliate offer to promote. I noticed a new listing with a high gravity score and clicked on “more details.” Instead of the usual “enter your clickbank ID here” text, there was a link to a JV page to learn more. I clicked through. And my heart sank.

 

Fat black text over the page header read: Private Offer. By Approval Only. Apply For Whitelist Below.

 

Not really sure what it meant, I submitted my name, my email and my Clickbank ID.

 

10 minutes later I received an email from Clickbank saying my affiliate approval request had been denied. There was no invitation to re-apply or reason given why I got denied. Just a letter telling me I wasn’t good enough to promote their stinking product.

 

That day I learned that the best affiliate offers are reserved for the top affiliates with a proven track record. And that rank amateurs like me should stay out until they’ve built some muscle. Kind of reminded me of the old Glengarry Glen Ross movie where the Glengarry leads (the best leads) were for “closers!”

 

Harsh lesson in affiliate marketing… If you don’t rank up, your affiliate earnings are cock-blocked from growing by default. You’re basically grounded to promoting the products that convert the worst and pay the least.

I just released new video for you where I divulge my most embarrassing affiliate mistake that kept me from enjoying affiliate commissions for 1/3rd of a decade. This has been the single most progress-halting thing I’ve ever done in my affiliate business (which I regret right now).

 

Since fixing this mistake, it’s like I was able to flip the switch on producing winning affiliate campaigns.

 

Today I nearly forgot what it’s like to launch an affiliate campaign and not make sales. Affiliate sign ups are expected for me, because I follow the exact same predictable systematic approach to affiliate marketing.

 

Sometimes, when I wake up in the morning and check my Clickbank stats or look into my merchant account, I’m still a little bit uncomfortable seeing all the sales that came in overnight, because they happened without me having to directly get involved. My mom was a teacher and my dad was a soviet army major, so they instilled hard work in me. Little did they know that the internet would change everything, allowing people like me (and them) to work smart instead of working hard.

Howdy,

Like a phoenix who rose from the ashes, I rose from the bed this morning and walked downstairs straight like an arrow.

I ran to the kitchen and hugged the espresso machine.

So many jittery memories we share.

Anyway, I digress.

Here’s a foto update on my spine injury. The left image is me 3 days ago. The right image is me this morning:

This looks much better, doesn’t it? I mean, check out those ab silhouettes!

Kidding. Those aren’t my abs. That’s just parts of my spine bulging out due to poor posture 🤣…

Anyway, I’m not out of the woods yet.

It still hurts to stand and sit for more than 20 minutes, so I’m staying in bed most of the time.

Will probably go for a walk today, though, get some fresh air.

The good thing is I’m making progress and soon I’ll be back on the soccer field, missing shots and getting dribbled past by younger fitter opponents.

In the meantime, I just stay in bed and check my stats.

It’s not fun to be in bed all day.

What I really love about my system is how consistent it is.
